Degrowth and Spaces of Possibility: Conference Recap

The Spaces of Possibility Conference, sponsored by the RECOMS Innovative Training Network, was virtual this year. While we missed out on traveling to Brussels in person, it was fitting for the subject of my talk: experiments in “virtual cultures” of sustainability. The talk focused on the CEU Ecovillage project that was launched in Spring 2021, as part of the Open Society Foundation Experimental Humanities grant.

In August 2021, I also took part in the 8th Annual Degrowth Conference in the Hague (joining virtually!). It was great to finally attend the bienniel event, as I narrowly missed the North/South Degrowth conference in Mexico City in 2018 by a few months. The theme, “Caring Communities for Radical Change”, meant a great lineup of panelists and workshops. Check out more on the conference site.

EASA Humans and Other Living Beings Network Meeting: Conference Recap

As a co-convener of the Humans and Other Living Beings Network of the European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA), it was exciting to see this virtual meeting come together in early July 2021. We wanted to try a different kind of format to engage participants – something that got us talking to one another about our work, rather than another Zoom panel discussion. Check out what we came up with in my recap on the EASA.HOLB page >>
